Day 3 of the MOD X Scotland Exchange 2025!

Today we went to the BE-ST Fest 2025! MOD X partners Ryan E. Smith and Tyler Schmetterer gave a presentation called “Accelerating + Scaling Industrialized Housing” that explored the role of the federal government in past and current industrialized offsite construction activities around the world. MOD X noted that BE-ST, Scotland's national innovation centre for construction and the built environment, is a great model for acceleration for other nations. Maryland needs its own BE-ST innovation hub!

We then listened in on a MOD X-led government roundtable with representatives from the UK (Scotland & England), Sweden, Ireland, and the US. Every single country shares the same struggle to produce enough affordable housing. The conversation focused first on government led actions followed by a look at how international knowledge transfer can be augmented.
